My poor little guy. So it's Tuesday afternoon and Gavin and I are picking up Mirenda. Everyday, we go to the playground after school. So it is like any other day and Gavin falls to the ground. I think nothing of it, this is a scene I see everyday. Then I heard a scream and wondered who's kid it was. Yep, it was mine. He laid there face first in the mulch. He got up slowly screaming and spitting mulch out of his mouth. I kind of thought something may be wrong since I have never heard that scream before and he just would not calm down. Thankfully, I had Margaret with me (Tricia's mom) (she is experienced at these things) she said "Deanna, I don't think you want to chance this one, take him to Urgent Care down the street" So, of course I did. But meanwhile, little Emma and Mirenda were supposed to have a play date together and now it was ruined. I felt bad for Emma her little face was like "What the heck is goin' on here?" Mirenda was completely confused. I just followed what Margaret told me. I speed over to Urgent Care, call John, and go in. They don't open until 5, it was only a little after 3. So, I call John back and tell him to meet me at home we had to go to the ER. Gavin was crying so hard in the backseat, and so Mirenda joined him. My heart was shattered.
So, off to the ER. Gavin passed out 2 times in the car from the pain, I guess. We walked in and of course Gavin was crying, they all melted because of his cuteness. We go in, they ask what happened, they x-ray him, and sit us in a little room with a curtain. I'm telling you it was that fast. Next thing you know here comes a doctor, she says "Yup he broke it! He broke his wrist" OK, John was saying the whole time, it's probably just a sprain. It's probably just a hairline fracture. Looking at this little guy hanging on me he has a big bump on his wrist, and I say "It looks like it is swelling up" And the doctor replies "No, that's his bone" "He broke 2 bones going to his wrist" "we can't set it or put it in cast so, you'll have to see a specialist in a couple days. We'll put it in a splint and a sling and that should keep him until you get him to the specialist." (Yea ok, this should do the trick)(that's what I'm thinking anyway) At this point I must have been sitting there with my jaw wide open because the doctor says "Are you OK mom?" Now, mind you I have never broken a bone and here is my little angel and he is broken, it was alot to take in!!
We leave and believe me it was just the beginning. He slept a total of 2.5hours and the same for me. He was feeling good and so, I sent him to school, there are only 5 kids total in his class and today there were 2 absent, so he had lots of attention. He had so much energy, so I had a lot of coffee, we were both all wound up. So, I will continue this story tomorrow. His appointment is tomorrow at 11am at DuPont, let's see what color cast he'll get. He just wants this splint off!!
The picture is from Wednesday morning, and video from after school, you can tell he's dealing with it well. You'll have to turn your head sideways I can't figure out how to change it. Sorry...... Oh yea and when you hear a crashing sound that would be the picture frame falling behind the tv and Gavin's face is all concerned for about a second.
